✒️ On writing a book of poetry
This is one of my poems in my native language German. I really do not often create such things because my writings are tied to special emotions. For me, a poem is a way to conserve such feelings and reactivate them at a later moment. For this reason, I cannot write in English because this language is not connected to the way I express emotion. It would feel like pretending and this is hazardous to the purpose of my writing.
If I read poems of different authors, I also feel something, although I know that I try to understand it in a way that is comfortable to me. Most likely, this is not what the person meant in the first place. Still, I'm sure that something universal remains that is hard to name; maybe this is related to Stephen King's saying Writing is telepathy
.
One of my biggest goals is to publish a collection of poems and feeling them by having a printed book copy. I have a roommate who coincidentally got to read a few lines of mine. Turned out he also writes poems and since then we understand each other differently. It's like the illusion that any two humans are completely different shattered at once and got replaced by a mystical sameness of all that thinks and feels. This encouraged me even more to move forward. I know there is only one way to write more often, and that is to pursue situations that touch me.
I hope to show you more soon. To all the writers reading this: You can do it, and your thoughts really do matter. 🤗
